It’s On

Welcome to the first annual beard-off. In celebration of November being National Beard Month, everyone started clean-shaven and will not shave until christmas.

If you trim a dollar goes into the pot, and if you quit and shave all the way it will cost $25. The surviving beards at the end of the beard-off will spilt the money. This is meant to bring unity among us and it is truly one beard across multiple faces.

The faces are from the left Aaron, Mark, Stephen, Kevin, Grant, Nick, Bryan, and Casey.

Beards are the way forward for Afghan-bound RAF gunners

⊆ November 7th, 2007 by casey | ˜ 55 Comments »

Personnel from 51 Squadron RAF Regiment have taken an unusual step in their bid to win over local people during their forthcoming deployment to Afghanistan.

Such is the Squadron’s motivation and attention to detail during their preparation many of the gunners have grown beards. Previous experiences by the RAF Regiment in Afghanistan reflect the fact that men with beards are more likely to be respected within Afghan society.

It is essential that we win the hearts and minds of the local people, the majority of whom are friendly towards the NATO forces. In the rural south where we will be, beards are a big thing culturally and represent strength and virility.”

My wife hates my mustache

⊆ November 5th, 2007 by kevin | ˜ 4 Comments »

My wife hates my mustache. Not in a violent way or anything, but more in an eye-rolling gentle disdain kind of way. I was considering shaving it off, but a friend pointed me to a blog where I found this inspirational passage:

Q: Weren’t mustaches once a symbol of wealth in the 19th Century? How does that equate to the “porn-stache” we see nowdays.

A: Pornography reflects our must base and urgent desires. What is more desirable than a mustache?

Indeed. It stays another day.

Want to put a video up here?

Here is an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lhEhjDuZBw

You have this at the top of your screen when you look at youtube, you need the id number at the end. You then need to put it in brackets and write the name of the site, then a space and put the id just like below. Click more to see a list of all the possible video service websites. To use one of them, just take out the “s and use the id.

brotherhood

⊆ November 1st, 2007 by bryan | ˜ 8 Comments »

I just want to make known to my brethren how excited I am about this season of exploration upon which we are about to embark. There will be joy, sorrow, fear and triumph, and we will experience all of these as one.

I know in my heart that we will emerge from this journey with an historic union the likes of which has not been seen since the warriors of Sparta, the Musketeers, or the Three Amigos.

From this moment forward, I will no longer refer to the hair on my face as my beard, but as OUR beard.

May our beard be fruitful and multiply.
